What This Tool Checks
Three things, against eBay’s published limits:
File size — eBay rejects anything over 7MB
Format — JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP pass. HEIC, WEBP, PDF and RAW don’t.

eBay’s Image Requirements

Why Your eBay Photo Might Be Rejected
Four causes account for nearly every rejection.
The file is over 7MB
The most common one, and it’s got worse as phone cameras have improved. A high-quality photo from a recent iPhone or Android can easily be 8–12MB. It looks completely normal on your phone and eBay simply refuses it.

It’s a HEIC file from an iPhone
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. It’s a better format technically, but eBay doesn’t accept it, and neither do most browsers — which is why the tool above shows no preview when you give it one.
The permanent fix: on your iPhone, go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos will save as JPEG.
For a photo you’ve already taken: open it, tap Edit, rotate it one way and back, then save. iOS exports it as JPEG. Taking a screenshot of it works too.
It’s under 500 pixels
eBay needs at least 500 pixels on the longest side. This usually happens when someone crops a photo hard, or saves a small thumbnail from another website.
The tool can’t fix this one — enlarging a small image just makes it blurry. Take the photo again at a higher resolution.
It’s a WEBP saved from a website
WEBP is what you get when you right-click and save a lot of images online. eBay doesn’t accept it. The resize button above converts it to JPEG.
Worth saying: if you’re taking product photos from a supplier’s site, check you actually have permission to use them. Using someone else’s images is a common route to a listing removal.
What Size Should eBay Photos Actually Be?
1600 to 3000 pixels on the longest side, saved as JPEG.
That range matters for a specific reason. eBay’s zoom function activates at 1600px — below that, buyers can’t zoom into your photo at all. And a listing where photos don’t zoom looks less trustworthy, even to buyers who never consciously notice why.
At the other end, above roughly 3000px you start bumping into the 7MB limit for no visible gain.
The resize button above targets 2000px, which sits comfortably in the middle: zoom enabled, file size well under the limit.
